Biological Environment


Low intertidal: 

  • not extensive and very little algae present.  Some grazing gastropods (Nodilittorina unifasciata, Nodilittorina pyramidalis, Nerita atramentosa) were reasonably common in the supra littoral zone with small oysters, limpets and barnacles lower down the rock face. A number of rock pools provided more diverse algal assemblages (e.g. Corallina, Hildenbrandia, Sargassum)
